Horror Director John Carpenter Signs Deal with Universal Cable Productions
It has been announced that legendary director John Carpenter has signed an overall deal with Universal Cable Productions (UCP).

Dawn Olmstead, executive vice president of development at UCP, said, "John Carpenter is an incredible creator whose dark imagination has left an indelible mark in film and in our dreams. We are thrilled to have a master of the horror genre join UCP."

With this deal, Carpenter will be executive producing scripted programming for the NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment portfolio. He will also be executive producing for external networks and streaming services. This will all be done alongside his partner, Sandy King, through their Storm King Productions banner.

"I'm excited to partner with Universal Cable Productions on this venture into television. On one hand, it's a return home to Universal where I have fond memories, and on the other, it's a step into the future with great new creative partners in programming", said Carpenter.

Already in development is "Tales for a Halloween Night", which will air on SYFY. The series will be based on Carpenter's award-winning graphic novel anthology of stories.

Carpenter is, of course, known for such films as "Halloween", "Escape From New York" and "The Thing", amongst others.
