Mike Flanagan has been chosen to direct the upcoming sequel to Stephen King's "The Shining". The film, titled "Doctor Sleep" will be based on the 2013 novel.
"Doctor Sleep" follows the story of Torrance dealing with the traumatic events of his time spent at Overlook Hotel as a child. As a recovering alcoholic, his "shining" powers come through, and he uses this ability to help those dying in hospice care.
Thr original film starred Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd and Scatman Crothers.
Flanagan directed "Oculus", which was a hit horror film. He's also signed on for the Netflix adaptation of Stephen King's novel "Gerald's Game".
