"They're on the upswing. They had a rocky period, but they're starting to find their footing," said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com.
"Wonder Woman 1984" and "Birds of Prey" are also films that the studio, and seemingly, moviegoers, are really looking forward to, so the streak will hopefully continue with those releases and beyond. But there are a couple of sticking points still - Batman and Superman.
"The Batman" is currently on the slate and will star Robert Pattinson alongside Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, and Zoe Kravitz. Despite the criticism surrounding the choice of Pattinson as Batman, the studio seems to have high hopes.
As for Superman, it's said that Michael B. Jordan could be a contender for the role; however, there isn't anything set in stone as Jordan won't commit to something that is so far off in the future (a 2023 release). This would be a new direction for the franchise and could certainly give it a jump start.
Another way for DC to go would be to make the edgier type of films that the now Disney-owned Marvel simply won't do.
"There's a huge appetite for R-rated superhero movies and if Marvel isn't going to step up, that presents an opening for DC to tap into that audience," said Jeff Bock, an analyst with Exhibitor Relations.
Only time will tell if their streak of successful films will continue. "Birds of Prey" and "Wonder Woman 1984" will both be released next year.
