Brendan Fraser Open to Returning to Mummy Franchise

When recently asked about returning to "The Mummy" franchise, Brendan Fraser said that he would be open to the idea. Fraser starred as adventurer Rick O'Connell in the film series, which started back in 1999.

"I don't know how it would work. But I'd be open to it if someone came up with the right concept," said Fraser.

"He could throw a punch and take a punch and he had a great sense of humor. You really like the guy. He never comes across as cocky or arrogant," said the director of "The Mummy", Stephen Sommers.

Tom Cruise starred in the 2017 version of the film, which earned over $410 million at the box office.

Fraser commented on that installment, saying, "It is hard to make that movie. The ingredient that we had going for our Mummy, which I didn't see in that film, was fun. That was what was lacking in that incarnation. It was too much of a straight-ahead horror movie. ‘The Mummy' should be a thrill ride, but not terrifying and scary." He added, "I know how difficult it is to pull it off. I tried to do it three times."
