HBO's "The White Lotus" is moving categories for the 2023 Emmy Awards. The hit series will be switched from the limited/anthology category to the drama category.
The series starred Jennifer Coolidge for the first two seasons; however, she won't be returning for a third. Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, and Sydney Sweeney starred alongside Coolidge in series one, while Aubrey Plaza, Meghann Fahy, Theo James, and Michael Imperioli starred with her in season two.
A limited or anthology series is defined as a story that is resolved in one season.
"The White Lotus" is a television series that premiered on HBO in July 2021. It is a social satire set at an exclusive Hawaiian resort, where the wealthy guests and hotel staff clash and collide over the course of a week. The show explores themes of privilege, power, and the dark underbelly of paradise, while also touching on issues such as race, class, sexuality, and mental health.
Creator-writer-director Mike White commented about the third season greenlight, saying, "I feel so lucky to get this opportunity again and am excited to reunite with my amazingly talented collaborators on The White Lotus."
