HBO Max's Dune prequel TV series "Dune: The Sisterhood" has had another setback. There has been a change in the director as well as some recasting.
"As Dune: The Sisterhood (wt) has entered a pre-scheduled hiatus, there are some creative changes being made to the production in an effort to create the best series possible and stay true to the source material. Johan Renck has completed his work on the series and a new director will be brought on; through mutual agreement, Johan is moving on to pursue other projects. Additionally, Shirley Henderson will be exiting the series and will no longer be playing Tula Harkonnen," said an HBO Max spokesperson in a statement.
The series will focus on the Bene Gesserit, an all-female order of warriors and scholars who have played a significant role in the "Dune" novels. The Bene Gesserit are known for their exceptional physical and mental abilities, as well as their political and social influence. They are trained in a variety of skills, including combat, espionage, and manipulation, and are often involved in the power struggles that take place in the "Dune" universe.
The plot of "Dune: The Sisterhood" is expected to explore the early years of the Bene Gesserit, including their formation as an order and their early interactions with the other factions in the "Dune" universe. The series will likely feature a mix of new and familiar characters from the novels, including Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam and the young Paul Atreides.
