Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson has been set to direct his first feature film - a live-action/hybrid version of "The Aristocats" for Walt Disney Studios.
Questlove will also be executive producing and overseeing the music for the film.
The script was written by Will Gluck and Keith Bunin, with Gluck's production company, Olive Bridge, and Thompson's Two One Five producing. Tarik Trotter, Shawn Gee, and Zarah Zohlman will executive produce under the Two One Five Entertainment banner.
Questlove is a founding member of the Philadelphia-based hip hop band The Roots. He is a six-time Grammy winner. He directed his documentary "Summer of Soul", which told the story of the 1969 Harlem Cultural festival.
"The Aristocats" is an animated musical comedy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released in 1970. The film tells the story of a family of aristocratic cats named Duchess and her three kittens, Marie, Berlioz, and Toulouse, who are kidnapped by a butler named Edgar in an attempt to inherit their owner's fortune.
