Evan Peters Joins 'Tron: Ares' with Jared Leto: Production Set to Start in August

Star of "Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story", Evan Peters, has signed on to star in the third installment of the "Tron" franchise,  "Tron: Ares". He will co-star alongside Jared Leto.

Directing the film will be Joachim Rønning ("Maleficent: Mistress of Evil"), from a script penned by Jesse Wigutow.

The original "Tron" movie takes place within a computer world known as "the Grid" and follows the story of Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer played by Jeff Bridges. Flynn is transported into the Grid and must fight against the Master Control Program (MCP) and its followers in order to escape.

Renowned for its groundbreaking visual effects, which blended computer-generated imagery (CGI) with live-action footage, the film has gained a dedicated fan base and has had a significant impact on popular culture, particularly in the field of computer graphics.

In 2010, a sequel called "Tron: Legacy" was released, directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Garrett Hedlund as Sam Flynn, Kevin's son. The story revolves around Sam's journey into the Grid to locate his missing father and his subsequent involvement in a conflict with the powerful program Clu.

"Tron: Legacy" received mixed reviews but was acclaimed for its visual effects and the return of Jeff Bridges as both Kevin Flynn and Clu. The film also featured an acclaimed soundtrack by Daft Punk.

Production for "Tron: Ares" is set to begin in August.
