75th Annual Emmy Awards Postponed Due to Hollywood Strikes: No New Date Announced Yet

The September 18, 2023 date for the 75th Annual Emmy Awards has been postponed due to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood.

No new date has been announced and most likely won't be until the SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America strikes against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have come to an end. This is the first time in two decades that the awards have been postponed.

This month, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) initiated a strike. The union, boasting a membership of 160,000 actors and performers, is actively pursuing a rise in both base pay and residuals within the context of the streaming era. Moreover, they are keen on implementing protective measures to prevent the unregulated usage of artificial intelligence within the entertainment sector.

The actors' strike aligns with the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which commenced on May 2 and had a substantial impact on various ongoing projects. This marks the first instance in over 60 years when actors and writers in Hollywood have simultaneously engaged in strike actions, reflecting a collective effort to address crucial concerns related to their profession and the industry as a whole.

The second round of voting will still take place on August 17.
