Universal has officially confirmed the fast-tracking of a new Jurassic World movie, marking a complete reboot of the beloved series. Adding to the anticipation is the return of the franchise's original Jurassic Park screenwriter, David Koepp, renowned for adapting the first two movies in 1993 and 1997, based on Michael Crichton's novels.
Unlike its predecessors, the upcoming installment promises to explore a completely fresh take on the Jurassic era. Notably, familiar faces from the Jurassic World series, including Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, are not expected to make a return. Additionally, the iconic trio from the original trilogy-Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill-will also be absent from the cast.
Behind the scenes, the film will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment. Joining him in the production team are Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley. The trio brings a wealth of experience to the project, having been integral parts of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World series.
The Jurassic Park franchise has been a colossal success, with the six titles released to date grossing more than an impressive $6 billion worldwide. The most recent installment, "Jurassic World: Dominion," released in 2022, continued this legacy by generating a staggering $1 billion at the global box office.
Executive Vice President of Production Development, Sara Scott, and Creative Executive of Production Development, Jacqueline Garell, will be overseeing the project for the studio. Their involvement ensures that the Jurassic World reboot will be in capable hands, maintaining the high standards set by the previous films in the franchise.
Notably, David Koepp made an appearance at the Sundance Film Festival, where he showcased his latest project, "Presence." The movie, directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, Julia Fox, and Callina Liang, has garnered critical acclaim, boasting a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is currently up for sale at the Sundance Film Festival, further showcasing Koepp's versatility and talent.
