
Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest drama leads with six wins as Sinners, Hamnet, and Frankenstein also earn major honors.
One Battle After Another emerged as the standout at this year’s BAFTA Film Awards, securing six wins including Best Film. Paul Thomas Anderson also claimed Adapted Screenplay, while Michael Bauman earned Cinematography and the film added Editing to its tally. In one of the night’s surprises, Sean Penn captured Supporting Actor, marking his first BAFTA win.
Ryan Coogler’s Sinners followed closely with three awards, including Original Screenplay, making Coogler the first Black filmmaker to win in that category. Wunmi Mosaku received Supporting Actress, and Ludwig Göransson won Original Score. Akinola Davies Jr. earned Outstanding Debut for My Father’s Shadow, while Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet was named Outstanding British Film, with Jessie Buckley taking Leading Actress.
Robert Aramayo had a breakthrough evening, winning both Leading Actor for I Swear and the EE Rising Star Award. I Swear also collected Casting honors.
In craft categories, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein won for Make Up & Hair, Production Design, and Costume Design. Avatar: Fire and Ash earned Special Visual Effects. Mr. Nobody Against Putin was named Best Documentary, while Boong triumphed in Children’s & Family Film.
Warner Bros. led distributors with nine wins, followed by Netflix with three. Studiocanal, Universal, Disney, and Mubi each earned two awards. The ceremony also honored Dame Donna Langley with the BAFTA Fellowship and Clare Binns with the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award.
