Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Returns With Final Event as Selena Gomez Directs Premiere

Good news for fans of the Russo family. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is returning this summer for a final four-part event on Disney+, Disney Channel, and Disney Channel On Demand.

The continuation of Wizards of Waverly Place is heading back into production next week, closing out the revival with a focused, high-stakes storyline. In a full-circle moment, Selena Gomez will direct the premiere episode, marking her first time behind the camera on the franchise. She will also return on screen as Alex Russo in multiple episodes, bringing one of the series’ most iconic characters back for its conclusion.

This final chapter centers on Billie, who is still dealing with the loss of Alex at the end of Season 2. When she discovers that the only way to save her mom is to track down her long-lost father, the stakes shift quickly. As the Russos reunite in search of Alex, Billie begins to understand that their magic is strongest when they work together, and that unity may be the only way to stop the growing threat they face.

The revival has already proven to be a strong performer, generating more than 101 million views across Disney Channel’s YouTube platforms and ranking among the top five streaming titles across kids, teens, and young adults when it debuted.

The series stars David Henrie as Justin Russo, alongside Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Taylor Cora, and Mimi Gianopulos.

The original Wizards of Waverly Place, created by Todd Greenwald, aired from 2007 through 2012 and followed three siblings learning to balance everyday life with magical powers. The series played a major role in launching Selena Gomez’s career.

All episodes from the first two seasons of the revival are currently streaming on Disney+, giving fans time to catch up before the final event arrives.
