A new Manhattan menu item turns an iconic movie comfort-food moment into a stylish dining experience
As fans eagerly await The Devil Wears Prada sequel, food brands, restaurants, and hotels add specialty items. Whether it is a drink in the theater while watching the film or a meal enjoyed before the show, everyone is hungry to get a taste of these movie-inspired dishes.
This latest tie-in shows how hotels and restaurants are tapping into film nostalgia to create experiences that feel both timely and memorable.
Recently, Hyatt Regency Times Square, Manhattan’s first Hyatt Regency hotel, announced a new sandwich inspired by an infamous scene in The Devil Wears Prada 2. Although Nate (Adrian Grier) is not returning in the sequel, many people will remember him making Andy (Anne Hathaway) a grilled cheese sandwich. While it was meant to be the ultimate comfort food, its expensive Jarlsberg did not have the intended impact.
Chef Sani Hebajat offers his own take on the late-night grilled cheese. Available at Hyatt Regency Times Square’s CUE 48 beginning May 1, Andy’s Grilled Cheese is a superb sandwich that is comforting and delicious.
Nestled between two pieces of sourdough bread, the creamy, melty Jarlsberg cheese offers a contrast to the tangy bread. While cheese is mild, it does have some nutty notes.
Additionally, the perfectly crispy bread gives way to the beautifully melted cheese. Creating the ultimate cheese pull, the sandwich delivers impeccable flavor. It might be an elevated version of comfort food, but it still satisfies.
Andy’s Grilled Cheese is $16. It can be paired with tomato soup for an additional $5.
If Andy’s Grilled Cheese is too basic, CUE 48 has another option that is bougie. The CUE 48 Grilled Cheese is Four Fat Fowl St. Stephen Cheese grilled cheese with fig jam on multigrain bread. It is $22.
For those unfamiliar with this particular St. Stephen Cheese, it is considered the brand’s flagship offering. Made from natural jersey cow milk and cream, the cheese has a luscious mouthfeel. The triple cream is buttery and exceptionally creamy.
The multigrain bread adds a nice texture contrast to the cheese. It makes the dish a little hearty. Even though the cheese has subtle earthy notes, it needs a more substantial bread for a sandwich.
Lastly, the fig jam adds just the right amount of sweetness. It is like the perfect finisher to bring out all the richness in the creamy cheese.
Consider pairing this sandwich with a bright, citrusy sparkling wine. That touch of bubbles will make any day a little brighter.
No one needs a boyfriend to make a grilled cheese. The culinary team at CUE 48 within the Hyatt Regency Times Square has the perfect sandwich waiting to be eaten. Just remember to silence the phone to savor every moment with this meal. No one needs an overbearing boss to interrupt a tasty meal.
