i hope you're all doing okay and staying safe and healthy during these times i have been busy i did an interview with taylor russell who plays maya from the movie words on bathroom walls which is based on a young adult novel about schizophrenia so check it out hi taylor how are you hi i'm doing well thanks um tell me maya's so smart and so ambitious what kind of similarities are there between you and her or what differences are there i think that um she she is very smart very ambitious very driven um won't really take no for an answer very determined um you know i can relate to those qualities of her she's much more blunt than i am i think that's a beautiful thing to be i i lean definitely on the side of standing back and and um observing more than you know being so forthright but yeah i think that you know in at the base of both of us i can connect to her a lot did you change it all by playing her do you feel like you can be more forthright now than you were previously hmm i i don't know i mean i think probably the people around me would have more to say about that than i would how much i change from character to character anyway um but it it more so feels like uh like an expansion in terms of okay i know i can if i wanted to be that way i think i probably could i'm cool with my skin for the moment i saw that you and charlie spent time together going through the script before production started was that a different process for you than other projects you've worked on and do you think how did that help you or did it did it not help in certain ways because there was rehearsal so to speak um well there wasn't a lot actually um yeah i can't i mean my memory just may be really awful and i don't remember because for me i don't remember us doing a lot of um work on it beforehand he he really did a lot of research and knew exactly how he wanted to play it and um and it was you know great to watch him because he had such a you know a tough task in in portraying you know this in a realistic way um so it was just a joy honestly to kind of be on the receiving end of that watching it and feeling inspired to you know um to be the best partner in the film for him that i could be with so much focus being on mental illness nowadays what are you hoping that people will really take if they can only take one thing away from this film what are you hoping it is um you know to to be a mirror for them to be able to see themselves in it and feel my favorite part about watching film is that is when i see either something completely different from me that i can't relate to at all or you know really being able to see myself in um in the film and i think this is one of those where you could kind of go either way people perhaps could get an education on schizophrenia or maybe feel like wow this is my story um anyway i hope there's you know one piece of it that that people can relate to i hope so too and i thought the film was wonderful and you and charlie were both fantastic in it um and i really enjoyed it so thank you so much for your time today and i can't wait for people to see the film thank you so much for watching you're welcome hey i hope you enjoyed my interview with taylor check out words on bathroom walls it's a fantastic movie and don't forget to subscribe below to our youtube channel so you can get updates on all the great content we've got coming you
