"Magic: The Gathering", the popular tabletop card game, is getting an animated series adaptation at Netflix, and Brandon Routh has been cast as the lead, Gideon Jura. The news was announced during the Wizards of the Coast's Magic Showcase 2021 stream.
It was also announced that a prequel novel will be released in 2022 by Django Wexler.
Brandon Routh starred as Superman in the 2006 film "Superman Returns", as well as "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," and "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World."
The "Magic: The Gathering" animated series will be run by Jeff Kline's creative team, which includes co-executive producer and story editor Steve Melching, supervising director Audu Paden and writers Nicole Dubuc, Russell Sommer, Dan Frey, and Taneka Stotts.
"Magic: The Gathering" debuted as a card game in 1993 and has gone on to gain popularity in over 70 countries.
