2024 Emmy Awards Nominations: Reservation Dogs, The Bear, and Shōgun Lead the Pack

The 76th annual Emmy Awards nominations were unveiled on Wednesday morning, highlighting both expected and surprising contenders. Series like "Reservation Dogs," "The Gilded Age," and "The Traitors" made notable appearances in top categories, while fan favorites "Shōgun," "The Bear," and "Abbott Elementary" lived up to the high expectations. The nominations were announced from the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, sparking excitement and discussions about the deserving shows and performances recognized this year.

Netflix's limited series "Baby Reindeer," despite its controversial nature, earned a spot among the nominees, along with a well-deserved nomination for Jodie Foster in the fourth season of "True Detective." The limited series category promises to be particularly competitive, featuring strong contenders such as Netflix's "Ripley," FX's "Fargo," Apple's "Lessons in Chemistry," and HBO's "True Detective: Night Country." In addition, the nominations list includes notable names such as Kelsey Grammer, Emma Stone, and John Mulaney, though some of these big names were surprisingly snubbed.

Other noteworthy nominations include "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in the Talk Series category and Amazon's "Fallout" in Drama Series and Best Actor for Walton Goggins. FX's "Reservation Dogs," despite its cancellation, earned its first nomination for Best Drama, with D'Pharoah Woon-A-Tai receiving a nod for his role as Bear Smallhill. Leading the pack, "Shōgun" garnered 25 nominations, followed by "The Bear" with 23, "Only Murders in the Building" with 21, and "True Detective: Night Country" with 19. The 2024 Emmys ceremony is scheduled for September 15, live on ABC, marking a return to its traditional timeframe after last year's delay due to Hollywood strikes.
