Isabel May has been cast to play the daughter of Sidney Prescott, portrayed by Neve Campbell, in the highly anticipated Scream 7. Known for her role as Elsa Dutton in the Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, May's involvement brings a fresh dynamic to the beloved horror series. Alongside her breakout roles in 1883 and 1923, she is known for her performance as Katie Cooper in Netflix's Alexa & Katie.
Campbell's return to the franchise marks her first appearance since Scream 5, when she stepped away due to salary disputes. The upcoming installment will be directed by Scream creator Kevin Williamson, with a script written by Guy Busick, who worked on the fifth and sixth films.
Scheduled for release on February 27, 2026, Scream 7 has endured its share of production challenges. The sequel faced delays stemming from the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, as well as significant cast and creative changes. Melissa Barrera, a central figure in the past two films, was fired following controversial social media posts, and Jenna Ortega exited the project due to scheduling conflicts with Netflix's Wednesday. Additionally, Christopher Landon, originally set to direct, departed in late 2023, describing the experience as disheartening. Despite these setbacks, the film's production team, led by Project X Entertainment and Spyglass Media, remains committed to delivering a worthy addition to the franchise.
Paramount Pictures will distribute the film, with Radio Silence executive producing.
