Lionsgate and Saber Interactive expand the billion-dollar action franchise into a mature, single-player AAA gaming experience.

During Sony’s State of Play Showcase, Lionsgate and Saber Interactive officially announced development of a new single-player, third-person action title based on the John Wick franchise. Designed for mature audiences, the currently untitled project is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The game aims to capture the franchise’s signature blend of precision gun-fu combat and stylized, close-quarters action. Franchise director Chad Stahelski and star Keanu Reeves are directly involved in the production, with Reeves set to reprise his role, lending his likeness and voice to the character.

A reveal trailer showcased cinematic, hard-hitting gameplay designed to immerse players in the sleek and brutal underworld that defines the films.

“I can’t wait for fans to step into the shoes of John Wick and explore the multi-dimensional world of The High Table,” said Jenefer Brown, President of Global Products and Experiences at Lionsgate. “We are collaborating closely with Saber's dedicated team to develop a game that captures the action, choreography, immersive world-building, and authenticity of the films.”

Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch emphasized the collaborative nature of the project. “John Wick is one of the most iconic characters in action film history. Saber is honored to work alongside Chad, Keanu, and the Lionsgate team to bring the world of Wick to life in a AAA game,” he said.

The story will feature an original narrative set years before the infamous “Impossible Task,” expanding the franchise timeline while introducing new characters alongside familiar figures from the Wick universe.

Developers say authenticity is central to the design. The game will incorporate high-impact gun-fu combat, intense driving sequences, cinematic storytelling, immersive environments, and dynamic camerawork. The goal is to create an experience that feels less like a traditional adaptation and more like stepping inside a John Wick film.

Since launching in 2014, the franchise has generated more than $1 billion at the global box office across four films. Its world has expanded to include the Peacock series, The Continental, and the upcoming spinoff Ballerina starring Ana de Armas. Additional projects remain in development, including a film centered on Caine, portrayed by Donnie Yen.

For Saber Interactive, the announcement continues its track record of adapting established intellectual properties into large-scale gaming experiences. The studio’s 2024 release Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 sold more than seven million units in its first year.

The untitled John Wick game is now available to wishlist on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
