MasterChef Global Gauntlet Raises the Pressure as the Home Cooks Face Their First Team Challenge
After mastering the season’s first Mystery Box challenge, the home cooks face their first team challenge. As seen in this exclusive clip, MasterChef Global Gauntlet’s pressure has the home cooks’ dreams go up in flames.
With the World Cup fever amping up, FOX and its many television shows intertwine soccer and its Team USA stars into the shows’ mix. For example, Next Level Chef had a fusion challenge. Now, MasterChef Global Gauntlet is stepping up to the pitch.
In Season 16 episode 7, “Team Pitch to Plate,” the home cooks must feed 101 kids participating in a U.S. Soccer Federation event. With Team USA Coach, Mauricio Pochettino, as special guest judge, the pressure is higher than scoring in the last minute of the half.
Cooking for kids often involves approachable, favorite comfort foods. In this challenge, the Blue Team is making burgers. While this plate is far different from the drive-thru hamburger, the cooks cannot slack on their plate’s execution.
In this exclusive clip provided to FlickDirect, the Blue Team’s success is going up in flames. Can they recover from the grill disaster?
“Communication and teamwork are key ingredients to surviving any MasterChef team challenge.”
While it is clear that the Blue Team is having extreme difficulty on the grill, it is more than just proper cooking techniques that are the issue. The cooks are not listening to each other, nor are they working as a team. Communication and teamwork are key ingredients to any team challenge.
Even though MasterChef is not the same scenario as Hell’s Kitchen brigade, cooks need to support each other and step up when another person is failing. Some Blue Team cooks are willing to sacrifice the team for their own ego. It will be the Blue Team’s downfall if this scenario cannot be fixed.
For MasterChef fans who are taking notes, a grill fire can be disconcerting, but it can be handled. The key is to turn off the flame. As seen in this clip, the cooks do not turn off the heat. Doing the opposite, turning up the flame, does not burn off the fat or help the fire burn out. It ignites a bigger problem. Removing the heat source is the smart solution.
Although the grill fire is scary, the Blue Team can recover. They need to focus on execution. Trying to pass off raw burgers as acceptable will not earn their team the win. That avoidable mistake will make Gordon Ramsay unhappy. No one wants the fiery chef to throw their food on the ground in disgust.
Which team will earn the win from the young soccer players and the judges? Watch MasterChef Global Gauntlet Wednesday, May 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX. Episodes can be streamed the next day on Hulu.
