Gordon Ramsay Gives Julia a Time Out as the Final Six Face the Pressure of a Professional Kitchen

With six home cooks remaining in the competition, MasterChef: Global Gauntlet puts their cooking skills to the professional test. In the "Restaurant Takeover" challenge, Gordon Ramsay sends one cook to cool out in the freezer. Does that time out help get the team back on track?

In this MasterChef season, the cooks have prepared a wedding feast, tackled Mystery Box challenges, and impressed with signature dishes. While those challenges required keen execution, stepping into a professional kitchen is far more difficult.

Every season, the "Restaurant Takeover" episode shows which cooks have the tenacity to excel in the culinary world. There is no video edit or do-over in this challenge. Guests are waiting, and they deserve the best possible food.

FOX provided FlickDirect with this exclusive clip from the MasterChef: Global Gauntlet "Restaurant Takeover" episode. Unfortunately, one chef needs a moment to cool off.

Gordon did not throw her out of the kitchen. Rather, he allowed her to regroup.

Gordon Ramsay fans might see similarities to Hell's Kitchen. Although many chefs have said there is no crying in a walk-in, Julia's pause seems to be a positive moment. Gordon did not throw her out of the kitchen. Rather, he allowed her to regroup.

To be clear, Gordon usually has a nicer, calmer demeanor in this restaurant challenge versus his approach on Hell's Kitchen. His choice to tell Julia to take a time out is far different than the verbal fireworks in other kitchens. Rarely is anyone called an "idiot sandwich" in this MasterChef challenge.

In some ways, that reset is a good thing for Julia and the Blue Team. Cooking salmon is not necessarily difficult. It is all about timing. From the crispy skin to the perfect medium-rare temperature, anyone can master cooking salmon. It takes patience, practice, and attention to detail.

Julia does not have line cook experience. Being part of a kitchen brigade requires good listening and teamwork. She needs to understand timing, communicate with her team, and execute well. It is all possible as long as she slows down and focuses on her particular task.

The Blue Team is a strong group. Julia, Jake, and Heidi have had top finishes in previous challenges. Additionally, Heidi worked as a yacht chef. That experience has some similarities to being a restaurant chef. They can set themselves up for success if they communicate well.

Overall, the Blue Team should do better than the Red Team. Even though Heidi rushed in the Tag Team Challenge and Jake can overcomplicate a dish, this challenge is straightforward. If they stay on track, they should be able to beat the Red Team.

Does Julia's time out succeed in getting the Blue Team back on track? Watch the "Restaurant Takeover" episode of MasterChef: Global Gauntlet Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX. Episodes can be streamed the next day on Hulu.
