hi I'm Allison with FlickDirect and I'm speaking with Brian Cranston and Benjamin brat talking about the infiltrator hi gentlemen how are how are you good so when you read the script what appealed to you about doing this film God it was just a fantastic story about not just one man but a a a cooperation of this organization of the US Customs to infiltrate the medine cartel and do as much damage as they can to disrupt their flow of money and drugs coming to the country and they got 85 arrests out of this operation almost all of them were convictions um so tremendously effective but also the fact that this is a man who was you know on both sides of his life were were danger in one area and then family in the other and I I walking that line was something that really uh affected me the screenplay red so cinematic that it almost seem to be unbelievable and then of course you read the book and you realize oh this is one of those rare cases where fact is truly Stranger Than Fiction you can't make this stuff up we don't want to give away the ending but the culmination of the of the story at the end of the film it's just it it just it seems so farfetched but it's outrageous when you realize that in real life it happened and it just makes the the story and and the act of Bob Maser and what he did all the more courageous and all the more admirable each spoke a little bit about the duality of the character and both characters are really complex but almost similar in a way and that they're both really family men but they have this whole other life how did you approach the roles of of these characters they even have the same name um Roberto and Robert and I mean uh you know it men bonding over Sports and and like-minded things and and he thought we were in the same same business and and actually and for Bob to do his job well and to be accepted into the cartel he actually had to launder money on every level uh which is odd to think that this here's this entrusted law enforcement officer who is actually laundering money in order to get in deeper with this organization um and then family and wives and and so it's it was a it was a very easy thing for him to get in tight with them uh culturally socially and then bring the hammer down and and stop it but that I thought that was an aspect of the of the script that I really was attracted to yeah Roberto has no idea obviously that he's being duped and so when he first meets Bob musella who actually is a fictional person uh he what he sees and what he's drawn to immediately is almost a mirror image of himself uh and he seeks out in others the same things that we all do qualities in people that we could um trust so what he discovers in the form of Bob uh Bob Mella is someone who's deeply loyal to his business associates and to his friends someone who's a family man someone who is a person of Faith all these qualities that kind of bring them together and they see I think they see qualities of each other uh that they actually like and come to respect of course he has a hidden agenda that I'm not aware of uh which essentially destroys the Friendship but I think that um on on on my character side of things there is a real sense of betrayal and and I'm guessing that on on on the real Bob Maser side of things although he had a job to do there might be a twinge of regret at least in terms of the collateral damage the Fallout that exists with the family and surrounding uh people I tend to agree with you and I just want to say how this movie was so intense that it almost made me a little bit uncomfortable watching it but I think it really made the job well done and I loved it in the whole cast and I really wish you the best of luck with it and congratul ulations I think it's a really great film thanks for speaking with me today thank [Music]
