i'm allison with FlickDirect nice to meet you hey allison what are we taking pictures of oh i got the batmobile behind me i got batman and the riddler over there i'm just you know taking my moment memories click you gotta do it right that's right so this character so iconic and this movie had a lot of hype and a lot of buzz before it ever came out so can you tell me what the mood was like when you were on set well there were many different moods on set but uh peachy i think i think overall i think because of matt reeve's passion for the batman um and and all the people in every department whether that was hair and makeup wardrobe production design i think everyone was so invested in the film that it really did feel like when you walked on a set you were crossing this magical threshold and you were in gotham which it actually looked like gotham because they basically rebuilt new york on the back lot um so the general mood was was that it was like it felt jovial and there was a sense of camaraderie and then you would cross this threshold and you're like holy crap we're in gotham it's about to get violent and visceral and real and uh well i think i think everybody was just thrilled to to to get to tell this story together you know like realizing in the moment and in in the way that you can i mean your brain can't entirely process it like especially for max and it was such a new experience but oh this is going to be this is going to be the gotham for you know a worldwide audience we're here kind of observing that and also being in it at the same time um it was so fun yeah and it's it's different too because we worked on projects where i may think it's special and and some people may you know like no one's heard of it yet i don't know how to say it everyone knows what the batman is so it's a little different because you're just like up everyone's gonna see this this is gonna be a hit before we've even started shooting um now i will say this was an exceptional masterpiece i'll be quiet i see your finger charlie i got you yeah [Laughter] this is decidedly darker i think than any other batman before did you like that aspect of it or was that something you thought well maybe this should lighten up a little so i i totally i totally hear that it it certainly had this kind of noir vibe to it that was cinematic i think the detective element um definitely made it feel kind of grittier at the same time what i loved about this batman is there was a sense of vulnerability with all the characters it didn't feel as necessarily stylized or caricature it felt like rob really brought this depth and emotional weight to bruce that was kind of always sitting underneath everything else and it it that little connection he has with the young boy who loses his father the mayor i don't want to give any spoilers oops um but that sense of connection was there throughout and i thought that that added a quality to the film where like i i can't remember walking out of another batman feeling like i was gonna cry the whole time and and and this one i did i cared so much about bruce i thought there was a lot of like really dry and wry humor in it too i mean i just i thought everybody's performances it was there was a subtlety to this um while also having that kind of grandness that you want out of a out of a big batman movie and uh thrilled to to been a part of it so with the the 4k blu-ray all that coming out now what do you think audiences will take away that maybe they didn't get from seeing it in the theater i mean if you're seeing it for the second or third or fourth time the amount of thought um and and like the the passion with which matt reeves our director directed this movie i've seen the movie three times now we'll definitely be seeing it again you just realize what an incredible film it is uh how threaded everything is the details whether that's stuff in the background uh the the real respect for the mythology it's just such a good movie so i i mean i can't wait to watch it again at home yeah and you know 4k blu-ray hd like it's gonna look pretty good blow your hair back man yeah absolutely you guys thank you so much for your time we can't wait for no blu-ray 4k all that good stuff and then yeah may 24th thank you yes coming soon thank you thanks guys you
