Authorities intervened after a Missouri man allegedly planned violence at a theatrical screening
On November 16, 2012, FlickDirect learned that Blaec Lammers had been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged plan involving a screening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Lammers was taken into custody in Bolivar, Missouri, after his mother contacted police out of fear that her 20-year-old son had purchased weapons.
According to reports from the Springfield News-Leader, Lammers was charged with first-degree assault, making a terrorist threat, and armed criminal action. Law enforcement officials stated that Lammers admitted to purchasing two assault rifles and approximately 400 rounds of ammunition earlier in the week.
During questioning, police said Lammers initially claimed the weapons were intended for hunting but later stated that he had “a lot in common with the people that have been involved in those shootings” and admitted to having homicidal thoughts. Authorities said he ultimately confessed to purchasing tickets for a Sunday screening of the film with the intent to open fire inside the theater.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 marked the final chapter in the long-running vampire franchise based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer. The film concludes the story of Bella Swan and the Cullen family and has been breaking box-office records following the franchise’s debut in 2008.
FlickDirect will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as additional information becomes available.
