Diego Tinoco Talks About His Epic Journey in Knights of the Zodiac!

What is going on guys? It's Austin from a FlickDirect and I have the honor to talk to Diego on his new film National Zodiac if I'm the real star of this movie, how are you doing, man? I'm doing great. I'm doing great in Miami Excited to go eat some Cuban food right after this. I was gonna say how's Miami treating you so far? Oh, we just landed yesterday.

Yeah. Yeah, so I'm excited to Go try out some Cuban food and enjoy the scene. So we were just talking right before we started shooting easily my favorite performance the entire film and A little bias on your name is Nero because yeah, it was actually my point my favorite video game character Oh, wow. Okay, and so I'm curious what's it like stepping into this role?

Especially knowing your goals who represent Latin Americans? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, yeah, I mean this IP was huge in South America, Japan and Mexico Right. So being able to represent, you know, all my people my Latin people on the big screen in Hollywood It's such an honor such a privilege and you don't see too many of that I mean I can count on my fingers how many how many Latin superheroes we got we got de noch Huerta Marvel we got Xochitl Gomez Marvel and now we got solo money doing yeah blue beetle and I'll be first in line for that Supporting my brother will hide so excited for that, right?

But uh, but but that being said 50% of the audience in a movie theater So was Latin you go you go to any movie theater Latinos to your left to your right in front of you. But what about on the big screen? Where are they? So we need more of that and we are making progression. We are going in that direction but um You know, I think one of my goals is to ultimately change that for the better in the next 10 years I want to see studio execs who are Latino who are calling shots who are green lighting stuff You know what I'm saying?

And you know, that's what I'm striving towards So I want to share a little birdie that you're a pretty big anime fan, especially gonna dragon ball Z So I gotta ask, can you talk about the impact that anime has had on your life just in general? Yeah, completely. I mean, to me Goku was like everything, right? When I was young, I mean, he was the symbol for choosing good over evil.

He was a symbol for always pushing through and always working hard and believing in yourself, right? To me, he was like Zeus, man. And, you know, I think all anime characters they all hold a very special message and they all hold a lot of weight and in every individual's life if they take the time to really watch and digest it and everybody connects to different stories in different ways and You know, if you haven't seen anime, you got to check it out I would start Dragon Ball Z then you know what I'm saying, you know next to the zodiac, of course And then uh, you know, there's so many one piece Mcken, which mcken you's doing the remake for dude.

It was so good right and he's crushing it right? We got a Japanese lead for this movie He's crushing it on other projects that are originally animes and you don't see too many of that either you don't see too many live-action adaptations of Japanese projects of IPs with a Japanese leading man So, you know, I think this is a big moment not just in my career but in Hollywood as a whole and I'm hoping to see you know more More of mcken you and working more mcken you and you know everybody did I couldn't agree more and speaking of the cast Does this movie has a heck of a cast as an arms, but you got Sean Bean Yeah, I'm cake of giants and mark the gas goes talk about Jerry screen time with I mean X-men the original Phoenix come on.

Yeah, talk about literally right time with her. I was I was such a fanboy I mean on my flight there I was literally watching I think it was Days of future past and I was watching it and I was like trying not to fanboy out when I met her But she is so dedicated and she's such a hard worker and she's she's such an artist. She knows she knows just the movie industry so well and like the the art in the craft of storytelling and Seeing that and seeing her just be so so uh, she had such a dominant presence right on set Yeah, you can just you can just feel it And it was really inspiring and it made me want to just you know, stay sharp and not mess up any of my lines Well, I gotta say Diego you absolutely killed in this I can't see where your career goes from here because I think you're a star in the making absolutely Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us today.
