The Sound of Music Synopsis
Based on a real family and the events in their life, The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria, who, after proving too high-spirited for the other nuns in her convent, is sent off to work as a governess for the unruly children in the Von Trapp family.
Captain Von Trapp is a lonely widower and former navy man. When Maria grows attached to the family and they to her, Captain Von Trapp ultimately realizes that he is in love with Maria and thus begins a very happy chapter in the lives of this newly formed family... Until, with Hitler's ascension imminent, Von Trapp must decide whether to join the Nazi party or to gather up his family and leave their home forever.
