Sleepers (1996)

Set in Hell's Kitchen during the 1960s and beyond, Sleepers follows four childhood friends whose lives are permanently altered after a prank goes tragically wrong. Sent to a juvenile detention center, the boys endure unimaginable abuse at the hands of guards, leaving scars that shape their futures in very different ways.

Years later, as adults, two of the friends find themselves on the wrong side of the law, while another becomes a journalist and one a prosecutor. When a chance encounter brings their past back into focus, they set a plan in motion to seek justice for what was done to them, leading to a tense courtroom battle and a moral reckoning that questions the nature of revenge and redemption.
