Inside the Film 28 Days Later (2003)
Synopsis of 28 Days Later (2003)
28 Days Later opens with a catastrophic outbreak of a highly contagious “Rage” virus that devastates the United Kingdom. After waking from a coma nearly a month later, bicycle courier Jim (Cillian Murphy) finds London eerily abandoned, and civilization seemingly collapsed. As he struggles to survive in a city overrun by the infected, Jim encounters other survivors who reveal the terrifying speed and brutality of the virus—and the grim reality that rescue may never come.
Directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, the film reinvents the modern zombie genre with a visceral, fast-paced approach and a bleak examination of human behavior under extreme pressure. As the group searches for safety, they discover that the infected are not the only threat in a world stripped of order and morality. With its raw digital cinematography, haunting atmosphere, and relentless tension, 28 Days Later became a landmark horror film that reshaped the genre for a new generation.
