Directed by Bradley Cooper, Is This Thing On? is an intimate relationship dramedy inspired by a real-life story about using stand-up comedy as emotional therapy during marital breakdown. Cooper developed the project after longtime friend Will Arnett introduced him to the true story of comedian John Bishop's reconciliation with his wife through stand-up performance. Cooper re-shaped the script to make the marriage itself the emotional core while using comedy as a narrative lens. The film was shot on an accelerated schedule and debuted at the New York Film Festival following a 33-day production and rapid post-production cycle.
