On the surface, Clash of The Titans (2010) has all the elements needed for a successful film, an amazing cast (save for the ever-wooden Sam Worthington), a director who knows his way around an action film, the technology to do amazing special effects, and an in-built fan base carried over from the original.
While lacking a story that could ever be said to be powerful the original Clash of The Titans film stunned audiences with the amazing stop-motion special effects by Harryhausen. However, in a time where seemingly anything is visually possible, CG could not stop this remake from falling flat on it's face. The acting even by veteran actors, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, was simply appalling; the action was un-inspiring, and the story made Star Wars: Episode 1 look like Shakespeare.
The only thing that saved this film from becoming a true greek tragedy was the first climactic piece of the film, the battle in Medusa's lair. The action was cut with perfect timing and precision, and did leave an impression once the film was over.
The only redeeming value I can hold to this film is that it can be used as an example to stop other producers from remaking films.
On a final note, it was nice to see Bubo the Owl on the screen for one last time.
