The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, which was slated for an August 7 release, will now be released as a PVOD in early 2021 before going to CBS All Acess.
This is just another in a long line of films that are nixing theatrical releases due to the ongoing pandemic. Originally, the film was slated for a Memorial Weekend release before being pushed back to August.
Spongebob's first film, which was released in 2004, earned $141 million, and his second, Sponge Out of Water, earned over $325 million.
