Harkening back-to-black comedies of the past sexy temptress Megan Fox (Transformers), is a seductive cheerleader who takes evil to a whole new level after she is possessed by a sinister demon. Now it is up to her best friend, Amanda Seyfried; Mamma Mia!, to stop the demonic cheerleader's reign of terror before it is too late!
At first, Jennifer's Body appears to be your normal average B-Rated Horror film that will be quickly forgotten as soon as you are finished watching it; however, something happens while watching Jennier's Body, and you actually start to enjoy yourself.
A shine through a charm not seen since such a film Heathers is seen in-between the superficial glam of Megan Fox and the gore of Diablo Cody's script under the direction of Karyn Kusama (Girlfight, Aeon Flux). Diablo Cody has you so involved by the climatic pool scene that you feel the movie ended much too soon.
Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried are on top of their game really throwing their heart and soul into the film. They are not afraid to fully delve into their characters, and it shows. Be sure to check out the making of the feature to really see this. The supporting cast, including J.K. Simmons (Spider-man, Oz), is also simply amazing. The only weak link appears to be Johnny Simmons (Amanda Seyfried boyfriend). While his performance is not Razzie award worthy. it pales in comparison to the rest of the cast.
As with most recent film transfers, the video quality of Jennifer's Body is simply amazing with virtually no artifacts and strong blacks which films the perfect. The audio is presented in English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio which helps round out the climatic pool scene. However, it doesn't help much with the rest of the film since it is a highly even front-loaded audio.
Aside from containing the theatrical cut and the unrated version of the film, 20th Century Fox went all out on the Blu-ray release of the film that included a plethora of special features, i.e.: Deleted Scenes, Megan Fox Is HOT, Megan Fox "Peer Pressure" PSA (simply hilarious), and Fox Movie Channel Presents ‘Life After Film School' With Writer Diablo Cody, and a digital copy of the film.
If you are looking for an Oscar Winning performance such as Juno, I highly recommend you skip this film; however, if you are looking for just a fun film for Saturday night, Jennifer's Body is highly recommended.
