The Patriot (2000)

Set during the American Revolutionary War, Benjamin Martin is a widowed father and former soldier who has renounced violence in order to raise his children in peace. When the conflict reaches his doorstep and tragedy strikes his family, Martin is forced to reconsider his beliefs and take up arms once more to defend his home and fight for independence.

Reluctantly joining the colonial militia, Martin becomes a key figure in the resistance against British forces led by the ruthless Colonel Tavington. As the war intensifies, Martin must balance his desire for vengeance with his responsibility as a father, ultimately shaping both his family's future and the fight for American freedom.
