Synopsis of The X-Files: I Want to Believe - Vrach Frankenshteyn (2026)
Years after leaving the FBI, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are drawn back into the darkness when a federal agent disappears and investigators turn to their only apparent lead: a disgraced former priest who claims horrifying psychic visions are revealing clues to the crime. Mulder’s willingness to believe once again clashes with Scully’s skepticism as the investigation leads them through an unforgiving winter landscape toward something far more disturbing than a conventional kidnapping.
Reworked by creator and director Chris Carter nearly two decades after the film’s theatrical release, The X-Files: I Want to Believe - Vrach Frankenshteyn restores the darker body horror originally removed from the 2008 version while tightening other portions of the story. The R-rated director’s cut places greater emphasis on the gruesome medical experiments at the center of the mystery, transforming Mulder and Scully’s investigation into the more disturbing horror story Carter originally intended.
